Join the Seminary Co-op Bookstore

Anyone may join the Seminary Co-op Bookstores by purchasing three shares of stock at $10 per share. This can now be done ONLINE at the same time you make your book purchase. Or, if you wish to buy books as a member at a later date, you can become a member first and then return to the site. Over 45,000 people worldwide are current members of the Seminary Co-op!

To become a member you must buy stock in the corporation. By clicking on the "Add to Cart" button below, a $30 stock purchase will be added to your shopping cart. (You may then either return to browse for books or proceed to Checkout.) We also ask for your Name, Address, Telephone number, and email address. Please fill out the form below with this information.

Upon becoming a member, we will send you an official welcome to the Co-op that will include more information about the corporation and a short form that will request confirmation of your address, etc. Because this transaction involves the purchase of stock and an eligibility to receive dividends, we will also request that you provide your social security number on this form. Though all transactions at this website are secure, we recognize resistance on the part of many people to provide Social Security numbers online and have provided an alternate means to obtain this information.

If you are in Chicago, you may also join by visiting any of our stores. Or, you may join through the mail by sending a check for $30 along with your name, address, phone number, email address, and Social Security number to Seminary Co-op Bookstore, 5757 S. University Ave, Chicago, IL 60637.

Any time after six months of membership, the Co-op will buy back the stock of persons who no longer wish to be members.

The Seminary Co-op is a consumer-owned co-operative association, incorporated in 1961. A member-elected Board of Directors oversees the corporation and employs a general manager to direct day-to-day operations.
